Encaustic mean “to burn in.” It is a process by which hot, molten beeswax is coloured using oil paint and pigment and combined with a natural resin made from tree sap. It is a process that dates back to the Egyptians.
Up to 20 layers of beeswax and resin are fused to a sturdy board panel creating a depth and luminosity that only this medium can achieve. Encaustic medium is archival, extremely durable, impervious to moisture and will not yellow over time.
